Lhasa, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) – A 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Dingri County, Shigatse City, Tibet Autonomous Region, at 9:05 a.m. on Sunday. According to a press conference held in the county, the disaster has caused significant casualties and damage.

- Deaths: 95 people have been confirmed dead.
- Injuries: 130 people have sustained various injuries.
- The numbers are based on preliminary assessments as of 3:00 p.m.

- Epicenter: The earthquake’s epicenter was located in Cuoguo Township, Dingri County.
- Affected Area: The region within 20 kilometers of the epicenter includes:
- Townships: Three township centers.
- Villages: 27 villages in total.
- Population: Approximately 6,900 residents are in the affected area.
